Savings accounts
Compare with other providersThe condition to open is simply that you are a UK resident, with no sole-tax-residency condition and no US-person restriction in the general savings terms. The US taxes the interest as ordinary income.

Cash ISAs
Compare with other providersThe cash ISA terms ask only that you are 18 or over and a UK resident for tax purposes, or a qualifying Crown employee or spouse. Neither the product terms nor the savings terms add a sole-residency or US-person restriction. The IRS still taxes the interest as US income, as the wrapper gives no US relief.

Mortgages
Compare with other providersUS persons: right to reside, and the loan to value tiers on your income without settled status
Citizenship is not a bar. Yorkshire accepts indefinite leave to remain, settled or pre-settled status, or a right to reside that a work visa satisfies. Through its broker arm Accord, an applicant without settled status is capped at 90% loan to value on income of at least £50,000, and 75% below that.
Direct, or through Accord for brokers · indefinite leave, settled status or right to reside

Why this is the rule
FATCA
FATCA makes UK banks report accounts held by US persons to the IRS. It is not a tax; it is a reporting trail. Where it bites is access.
TaxFBAR
If your foreign accounts top $10,000 combined at any point in the year, you file an FBAR. What counts, when it is due, and what happens if you miss it.
TaxISA US tax
The IRS does not recognise the ISA wrapper. Cash ISA interest and stocks ISA gains are taxable on your US return, and fund holdings drag in PFIC rules.
