Why Momo exists

US persons in the UK get turned away by banks with no explanation, then spend evenings piecing together why from forum threads and half-right blog posts. Momo exists to give that a single, honest answer.

The problem

An American living in the UK runs into the same wall again and again: an account that opens for everyone else is closed to them, and no one at the bank explains it. The reason is almost always a US rule, FATCA, PFIC, the reach of US tax on its citizens, and almost never something the applicant did wrong. The information exists, but it is scattered, dated, and often confidently wrong.

What Momo does

Momo maps which UK accounts open for US citizens, provider by provider, and explains the US tax rules behind each verdict in plain terms. The standard it holds itself to

Money advice that is wrong does real harm, so the bar is high. When something is uncertain, Momo marks it as not yet verified and points to the date it was last checked rather than guessing. Momo Finance is a trading name of Haystack Rock Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under number 07572770. The company is responsible for what the site publishes and is the data controller for it; the terms of use and privacy policy have the detail.
