Which Revolut accounts accept US citizens
Last checkedRevolut has been checked for US citizens across 5 account types. 2 are open to a US person, 2 are closed and 1 is not on offer, whatever your nationality.
If you already have an account with Revolut, a second one there is usually the easier application, because Revolut has already checked who you are. Each account below carries its verdict, the evidence behind it and the date it was checked.

OpensOpens for US persons and is the easiest route before you have a UK address. Revolut now operates in the UK through Revolut Bank UK Ltd, which is PRA-authorised, so balances are FSCS-protected rather than merely safeguarded; older balances may still sit with its electronic money entity, so check which one holds yours.

SkipRevolut's instant access savings terms require you to be a UK tax resident and not a US person, so the savings product is closed to a US citizen even with a Revolut account in good standing. Revolut still opens its current account to US persons.

SkipRevolut closes both doors and its own wording spells out the trap: trading entities outside the US cannot serve US persons living outside the US, and only its US entity may serve US persons, who must be living in the US. Note this is Revolut's trading arm; its everyday and savings accounts are a separate matter.

Credit cards
Compare with other providersRevolut has no UK credit card. Its own help centre says it does not offer credit products such as loans, credit cards or overdrafts in Great Britain, and although it has signalled that UK cards are coming since winning its banking licence, none is live.

OpensRevolut holds UK personal accounts through Revolut Bank UK, so deposits are FSCS-protected and there is no minimum balance. A US person can earn the savings interest, because that sits as a deposit with ClearBank, but Revolut cannot offer trading or its money market funds to US persons.

Why this is the rule
FATCA
FATCA makes UK banks report accounts held by US persons to the IRS. It is not a tax; it is a reporting trail. Where it bites is access.
TaxFBAR
If your foreign accounts top $10,000 combined at any point in the year, you file an FBAR. What counts, when it is due, and what happens if you miss it.
TaxPFIC
Almost every UK-domiciled fund is a PFIC, taxed by the US at punitive rates with heavy filing. This is why US citizens hold individual shares, not UK funds.
