US persons: nothing published about US persons, but you must be living in the UK to apply
InvestAcc publishes nothing about US citizens either way, so its position is unstated. Its gate is residence: it takes applications only from people who are UK resident and living in the UK at the time, and it accepts no transfers from overseas pension schemes, which rules out moving a US pot in. It takes direct business, with its own application pack for customers without an adviser, and its own target market statement says a fund below about £40,000 is unlikely to benefit from a fixed-fee SIPP.

Property costs £350 a year, falling to £100 once an independent property manager is appointed and waived on vacant land after the first year, and disposing of one costs £250. Taking benefits costs £100 in any year you do. No transfers from overseas schemes. Fees exclude VAT. |
| SIPP Lite (opens in a new tab) |

One investment account only, alongside the SIPP bank account. The annual fee is payable a year in advance, on top of the set-up fee in year one. Upgrading to the full Minerva SIPP costs £100 in the first year and nothing after that. Fees exclude VAT. |

Not a personal pension: an employer scheme, so it needs an actively trading sponsoring employer at the outset and takes at most eleven members, who all become trustees. InvestAcc's own target market statement says a fund below about £80,000 is unlikely to benefit. |

Junior SIPPs
Compare with other providersUS persons: nothing published about US persons either way, so ask before applying
InvestAcc publishes a page saying plainly that a child of any age can hold a Minerva SIPP or SIPP Lite, provided the usual £40,000 minimum investment is met and a parent or guardian is appointed as trustee. The published terms set no US test.

Why this is the rule
SIPP US tax
The US Treasury reads the treaty as leaving UK SIPP growth untaxed until drawn; the treaty's wording is narrower. Contributions, growth and drawdown explained.
TaxUS-UK tax treaty
The US-UK treaty stops most double taxation, but the saving clause lets the US tax its citizens almost as if it were not there. What survives the clause.
TaxForm 3520
A UK pension held in trust can be a foreign trust to the IRS. Rev. Proc. 2020-17 exempts qualifying retirement trusts from Forms 3520 and 3520-A, on conditions.
TaxSaving for a child
How the US taxes a Junior ISA, a junior pension and a Child Trust Fund held by a US citizen child in the UK, and how a 529 plan compares.
